Dr. Morrey was born in Galveston but was transplanted to Minnesota at a young age. He is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with a training focus in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He joined the orthopaedic faculty at the UT Health Science Center in 2009 as a specialist in hip and knee reconstructive surgery. In 2014 he became the program director for the UTHSCSA hip and knee reconstructive surgery fellowship.
In October 2014 he was one of two US surgeons selected to participate in the John Insall traveling fellowship for knee replacement surgery. In 2015, he created Ortho San Antonio, an orthopaedic specialty group with a goal to enhance the quality and outcomes of adult hip and knee surgery.
He has been the section editor in a major textbook on hip and knee reconstruction and has also contributed chapters in several major textbooks focusing on hip and knee replacement surgery. Based on this experience he is actively pursuing clinical research in these areas, and is involved in creating the first total joint replacement clinical database in San Antonio. As such, he is committed to improving the cost effectiveness and quality of outcomes of hip and knee replacement surgery.
About Dr. Murray
Dr. Matthew Murray is board certified and subspecialty certified in sports medicine. He specializes in surgery of athletic injuries of the upper and lower extremity. He performs hundreds of routine arthroscopic procedures annually, including meniscus surgery, ACL reconstructions, labral repairs, and rotator cuff repairs. After spending four years an assistant clinical professor at UT Health Science Center, Dr. Murray is also very experienced taking care of complex athletic knee and shoulder injuries, and he is referred patients from all over Texas for his expertise in these problems.
Working directly with the world-renowned Dr. James Andrews, Dr. Murray completed his fellowship training for surgical sports injuries at The American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. There he cared for numerous NFL, NCAA, NBA, and MLB athletes.
Dr. Murray completed orthopaedic surgery residency training and obtained his medical degree from UT Health Science Center San Antonio, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. As an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was a letterman on the Texas Longhorn football team, winning Big XII Conference All-Academic First Team honors.
Sara is a native of San Antonio and has worked in the health care industry for more than 15 years. She has had various roles throughout this time and brings a unique and varied skillset to Ortho San Antonio. Based on her commonsense approach and years of experience, she was selected as the first office manager for our specialized orthopaedic practice.
Dusti is an orthopaedic technician who works closely with the physician as an integral part of patient care. She has been in the medical field for 28 years. She loves spending time out doors and horseback riding.
Robert is a graduate of James Madison High School and studied to be an Orthopedic Technician at San Antonio College of Medical and Dental Assistants. He has been an Ortho Tech for 24 years and has spent the last sixteen years focusing primarily on Sports Medicine. He is married and has two daughters.
Michael has been a radiology technologist for over 20 years with numerous professional roles including Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Instructor and lead technologist.
He graduated from the University of Texas with a B.B.A. in Management with a concentration in Marketing. He later received an associate in Science with a concentration in Radiology .ARRT license for Radiology and Certified Medical Radiological Technologist License for Texas.
