Dr. Roger Lunke
Dr. Lunke is originally from Wisconsin. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He received his doctor of medicine degree in Madison, Wisconsin. He interned at the Maricopa County General Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He returned to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to do and complete his orthopedic surgery residency program. While there he also received a Master’s degree studying Pharmacology in Bone and Muscle.
He was brought to San Antonio, Texas as a member of the United States Army Reserve serving his active duty stays there. Both Dr. Lunke and his wife thoroughly enjoyed their occasional winter breaks in San Antonio, away from the Minnesota winter chill.
At the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Lunke trained with and learned under the direction of Dr. Morrey’s father, Dr. Bernard Morrey. Dr. Lunke originally joined Dr. Hinchey’s grandfather with the San Antonio Orthopedic Group and worked within that organization for a number of years. He left them when the North Central area hospitals, began to develop and was involved in medical staff development and organization. Ortho San Antonio has provided Dr. Lunke an excellent opportunity to continue his orthopedic practice and work within the Christus Santa Rosa Health Care System at their Alamo Heights location.
Dr. Lunke specializes in adult general and reconstructive surgery. His areas of special interest are total knee and hip replacement and revision surgery. He is now working with Dr. DeLee, one of San Antonio’s original arthroscopic surgeons. Dr. Lunke specializes in knee and shoulder arthroscopy. His association with Ortho San Antonio will now allow him to initially see, evaluate, treat and care for these patients. It will also provide him options to refer these patients to other subspecialists within our group for specialty care if needed.
