Dr. Kathren Mccarty

Dr. Kathren D. McCarty has joined Ortho SA as a podiatric foot and ankle surgeon. Since 2008, she has been in private practice, serving the San Antonio and Schertz communities. Raised in Austin, she has been here since her collegiate years where she played both volleyball and softball at St Mary's University; she was inducted in the St Mary's Hall of Fame for her excellence in volleyball. Dr. McCarty received her Master’s degree in biological sciences and Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. While at Barry University, she was the President of the Florida Podiatric Medical Students Association and elected to serve as the national President of the American Podiatric Medical Students Association.

She had several years of extensive residency training at and was the chief resident of the Orthopedics Dept./Podiatry division at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio where she performed over 2000 procedures. Dr. McCarty has been published in several articles, medical journals and textbooks. Other physicians and other surgeons from all over refer to Dr. McCarty. She is known for her extremely personable bedside manner, expertise and trustworthiness.

Dr. McCarty's vast knowledge includes treatment of ankle sprains and instability, sports injuries, foot and ankle fractures, arthritis, heel pain, bunions, diabetic foot and other lower extremity ailments.  Dr. McCarty is trained in the latest surgical advances in both internal and external fixation, minimally invasive techniques and arthroscopy. Dr. McCarty exhausts treatments before surgery is considered.
