Surgery Is Not Always The Answer

Visiting the doctor is often a hesitant decision for many. Why is that you may ask?

Dr. Murray says that it's because "they're worried about surgery."

Visiting the doctor and being told you need surgery may be frightening, but it doesn't always happen. While there are certain diagnoses that always call for surgery, there are numerous others that do not. A majority of cases don't require surgery, which is when alternative treatment options come into play.

Watch the video below for an explanation from Dr. Murray himself.

These alternative treatment options are things like - physical therapy, rest & many more.

If you avoid going to the doctor, you risk long-term problems and permanent damage to the injured area. When an injury occurs, it is important to see a doctor right away because there that need to be determined immediately in order to avoid any issues later on.

"As a surgeon, I'm not pushing surgery, but again we just have to determine what the diagnosis is."

Dr. Murray specializes in surgery of athletic injuries of the upper and lower extremity. He performs hundreds of routine arthroscopic procedures annually, including meniscus surgery, ACL reconstructions, labral repairs, rotator cuff repairs, and hip labral repairs.
